What data does a Sankey diagram need?
One row per flow: where it comes from, where it goes and how much. Nodes are inferred from the names you use, so you never define them separately.
Why does my diagram fail to render?
Almost always a cycle — a chain of flows that leads back to where it started. Sankey layouts require a direction, so break the loop or rename the repeated stage.
Sankey or funnel chart?
A funnel handles one linear path. A Sankey handles branching, so it can show several sources merging and a stage splitting into multiple outcomes.
