FAQ

Treemap Generator questions

Treemap or pie chart?
Use a treemap once you have more than about six categories. Pie slices become slivers and the labels collide, while a treemap keeps every rectangle labelled and comparable.
Are treemap areas accurate?
Yes — area is proportional to value. Comparing two rectangles of different aspect ratios by eye is still harder than comparing bar lengths, so use a bar chart when precision matters most.
Can I show a hierarchy?
For nested levels use the sunburst chart, which is built for parent-child hierarchies. This treemap renders a single flat level.
